Pizmon (the Hebrew word meaning the chorus of a song) is the co-ed Jewish a cappella group of Columbia University, Barnard College, and The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Since its inception in 1987 as the first collegiate Jewish a cappella group, Pizmon has traveled to hundreds of communities in the New York metropolitan area, across the country, and around the world to offer Jewish music as a source of inspiration and community outreach.
As a Jewish pluralistic group, Pizmon is particularly proud of their diversity, with members originating from nearly every imaginable background and Jewish denomination. Through their identity as Jews and through their love of music, members of Pizmon strive to be role models for Jewish youth.
The weekend - coinciding with Shabbat Shirah - will be filled with musical tefillot (prayer services), workshops for kids, teens, and adults, Shabbat zemirot (songs for Shabbat), a Saturday night concert, and more!
Beth Sholom Pizmon alumni include Rachel Lendner, Uri Sobel, Iscah Waldman, and Adam Wall
