The Religious School at Congregation Beth Sholom creates a foundation for life-long Jewish living for students in kindergarten to grade 7. The school’s educational program is designed in accordance with guidelines from the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism but synagogue affiliation is not required for enrollment.

The school’s curriculum places a strong emphasis on:
- proficiency in Hebrew reading and writing
- Jewish ethics
- laws and customs
- holidays and prayer
- Jewish history
- Israel
Students also acquire a useful and meaningful knowledge of modern and prayer book Hebrew, all in an interactive, nurturing environment. Teaching methods emphasize a balance of text and experiential learning, with projects, games, stories, art, music, and Mitzvah projects, all blended as essential parts of the educational experience.
A low student-teacher ratio allows children to progress at their own pace. Through mentoring and special activities, the students form their own kehilla (Jewish community).
Classes are held on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. Mechina (preparatory) program students in kindergarten through grade 2 meet on Sunday, while students in grades 3-7 meet both days.
Class is now in session; all classes are held at Congregation Beth Sholom, 354 Maitland Ave, Teaneck. For information and registration materials, contact Marilyn Yeshua, Education Director, at marilynyeshua@msn.com or
