Matthew Halpern is the first Director of Synagogue Life for Congregation Beth Sholom. In this dynamic role, he works in tandem with the Board of Trustees to execute the affairs of the synagogue. In particular, his work focuses on membership development; marketing and communications; event management; and identifying new opportunities for programming development and interpersonal growth among members.

Matthew is no stranger to Congregation Beth Sholom. He has served as USY Adviser and Youth Director at the synagogue for the past ten years, and continues to work with our USY chapter. Prior to assuming his current role in the synagogue, Matthew worked in the Marketing & Communications Department of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ.

A product of Kadima and USY, Matthew also works with USYers across USCJ’s New Jersey (Hagalil) Region and North America to help further the goals of the organization. In addition, he’s been part of three Maccabi USA teams in Bowling, two competing in Israel (2005, 2009) and another in Australia (2006).
