Get Into the Fun with Teaneck USY, Teaneck Kadima
As part of their goal to increase the amount of hands-on community service opportunities available to teenagers, Teaneck USY participated in the Fairmount School Project Playground on Oct. 12 in Hackensack. Here’s a short piece about the experience by Avi Steinbach, Teaneck USY Social Action/Tikkun Olam Vice President:
“On October 12th, 18 kids from Teaneck USY went to Hackensack and helped out with the Fairmount School Project Playground. This was a huge project to build a 12,000 square foot handicap-accessible community playground entirely built by volunteers and completely funded by donations. Teaneck USY volunteers helped by moving spare wood pieces, building monkey bars, raking wood chips, and doing whatever was asked. The playground features a Tree Fort, a Fun House Maze, an Amphitheater with a Stage, a Rock Wall, a Rocket Slide, a Telephone System, a TOT LOT area with a Bunny Slide, and so much more! Being a part of building the playground was so much fun and something I am sure none of us will soon forget.”
